Python Needs Vet After Mistaking Dog Toy for Tasty Lunch

A python mistook dog toys for food in a Queensland home recently, swallowing one toy whole and chomping down on a second before lunch time was brought to a close — and the snake to a vet. Footage from Stuart McKenzie shows the python at a home in Caboolture, being flushed with water to get it to unlatch from a yellow dog toy. McKenzie said the python had already eaten a pink elephant toy before catchers arrived to put a stop to its second course. The snake eventually released the second toy due to the running water, and was taken to a wildlife hospital for immediate surgery to remove the elephant toy, according to McKenzie.
