Gareth Southgate: England must keep evolving as a team

Gareth Southgate says that England have to 'keep evolving as a team' as he named his latest youth filled squad to play in September's Euro 2020 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo. The England manager discussed the decision making process behind continuing his youth based approach to team selection with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Mason Mount and James Maddison handed call-ups to the senior squad. This also saw a call-up for Aston Villa Tyrone Mings who has impressed Southgate during their return to the Premier League. In addition, the England manager spoke about his dilemma between selecting a first-choice right-back with players such as Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kieran Trippier and Kyle Walker all established at major clubs. On this occasion, it was Kyle Walker who was omitted from the squad. However, Southgate emphasised that the Man City player understood the process behind his decision.
