Tiny Bear Cub Digs Into Cat Food Outside North Georgia Home

An adorable, tiny, straggly black bear cub was captured and relocated in early April after repeatedly eating from a cat's food bowl on a porch in north Georgia, the homeowners say. Ann D'entremont Sutton of Habersham County said she shot this video of the cub, whom she nicknamed "Little Bear," at her home near the Chattahoochee Forest on April 8, but said the bear first visited on March 27 and had appeared a few times in between. Sutton told Storyful that though bears are not unusual visitors, they're never as small as this one. "The following days, it would stop by during the day to eat from the cat food bowl," Sutton said, adding that she and her husband hadn't been overly concerned about the visits as they "expected it to reunite with its mother." However, when the bear returned to the porch on April 6 and again on April 8, they knew it had been around for too long, despite the joy the visits had brought the family, Sutton said. "We knew his visit was a gift that few of us get to experience and wanted to share the video with others," she said. After contacting the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR), a https://gadnr.org/black-bear-sighting-be-bearwise bear biologist advised them to remove the cat food from the porch in order to encourage the cub to leave the area. On Easter Sunday, April 9, the bear was back again and "created a bit of excitement" when the family spotted it high up in a tree. Eventually, on April 14, a bear biologist humanely captured the cub in order to relocate it to another forest area, Sutton said.
