Deep Muscles Of The Back Of The Leg & Posterior Tibial Artery & Nerve

The posterior tibial artery of the lower limb carries blood to the posterior compartment of the leg and plantar surface of the foot, from the popliteal artery, 1903. From 'Surgical Anatomy: The Treatise of the Human Anatomy and Its Applications to the Practice of Medicine and Surgery, Volume III' (1903). It is accompanied by a deep vein, the posterior tibial vein, along its course. The tibial nerve is a branch of the sciatic nerve.
