The minute you start taking the charts too seriously, it's boring / On our show, it's important ... singing is primary concern, but you've got to entertain...Certain shows on air on the BBC, I'd rather watch paint dry...so indulgent and boring...my artist is a fantastic entertainer, not just going to stand there and sing... - (On the show dominating the Christmas number one single slot) Everyone has this distorted image of Christmas number ones being incredible... Ghastly Cliff Richard, Bob the Builder...our record goes out over Christmas / If there is a campaign aimed directly at me it is stupid... It does change these guys lives...quite a cynical campaign geared at me...incredibly dismissive of the people who watch and enjoy the show...
