Congressman Mfume floor tribute to late Congressman John Lewis

Maryland Congressman Kweisi Mfume says during floor time for speeches in memoriam to civil rights icon John Lewis that he and Lewis were sworn in together 33 years earlier as classmates in the 100th Congress, only for African-Americans elected that year, the for having huddled on the floor and John made them all hug each other as one band of brothers, the passion and equality he carried throughout his life never waned, his untiring quest for justice never faltered with a big heart, he like his mentor Martin Luther King was un awed by opinion, un seduced by flattery and un dismayed by disaster, born in the era of Jim Crow with vile and vicious segregation defied expectations.
