Hungarians expect winner of upcoming elections to solve economic problems first

BUDAPEST, HUNGARY - MARCH 31: As the general elections approach in Hungary, the majority of the Hungarians expect that the winner of the elections should solve the economic problems first. In Hungary, which has a population of approximately 9.7 million, 8 million voters will go to the polls on Sunday (April 3) to elect new members of the 199-seat Hungarian National Assembly. Anadolu Agency conducted street interviews in the capital of Budapest to feel the pulse of the voters. “I think Fidesz will win the election by about one-two point but it would be better if he wins by far. Orban is already the prime minister for 12 years and the right-wing government has been supporting Hungarians, Turks and Poles, especially in the Ukraine crisis. (If Fidesz wins) It is in the interest of the country's economy, Hungarians and Central Europe,” said Hungarian citizen Gabor Kiraly. Hungarian citizen Mihaly Koszegi pointed out that he expect someone younger to govern the country saying, “I think, it would be nice if Orban switched to someone younger. He has kept his promises so far. I think, he is a good prime minister, but I would like someone younger to be elected.” Touching on the possible increases in fuel, food and other energy prices, another citizen Katalin stressed “The region's agricultural supplier in Ukraine, now they are fighting instead of harvesting. Hungary is a self-sufficient country in this regard.” According to the latest opinion polls, 39% of the voters support the alliance of the Hungarian Civic Alliance (Fidesz) and the Christian Democratic People's Party (KDNP) and 36% of the voters support opposition's umbrella group, United for Hungary, while 19% of voters are undecided.
