UK Government To Pardon Thousands Of Men Convicted Of Consensual Homosexuality

Tens of thousands of people criminally convicted of homosexuality have been pardoned under the law known informally as the 'Alan Turing Law', the Sexual Offences Pardons Bill 2016-17. Alan Turing was a pioneering English computer scientist and mathematician whose ground-breaking work is thought to have brought WWII to an end four years early. Turing was sentenced to chemical castration after he admitted to 'acts of gross indecency' in 1952. He was found dead from cyanide poisoning in 1954 with a half-eaten apple by his side.
