Heart of Atlanta motel owner Morton Rolleston, who refuses to rent rooms to African Americans, stands in front of his motel after returning from the U.S. Supreme Court where he is challenging the new Civil Rights Act of 1964, arguing that the act violates his Fifth and Thirteenth Amendment rights. The Court found in favor of the United States and filed permanent injunctions against the Heart of Atlanta motel.
