VENICE, ITALY: US director Stanley Donnen (L) receives the Golden Lion for his career from Italian movie star Sophia Loren during the award ceremony at the historic lyric theater "La Fenice" in Venice 11 September 2004. British director Mike Leigh's "Vera Drake", a story about a back-street abortionist in 1950s London, won the Golden Lion on Saturday for best film at the 61th Venice International Film Festival.In a notable double for Leigh's film, Imelda Staunton won the festival's best actress award for her role in the movie.
