The old city, ancient citadel, is located on Mount Chevalier, also called le Sucquet (Provencal word meaning hilltop). We walk through narrow streets until we reach the Place de Castre, which is the fortified area. In the year 154 a.c., the Romans settled in place de la Castre, located on top of the Suquet, strategic position from where they dominated the sea, the forest and the plain. Here is a fortress and a church.
